The AAL 93 is constructed from soft moulded foam with an inside steel construction. A matching seat cushion is attached with velcro, so you can remove it easily for cleaning. Also available with solid wood legs (AAL 92) or a swivel base (AAL 91). Pair with the AAL 03 Ottoman for even more comfort.

Materials/Construction
Shell: Soft moulded foam with an inside steel construction.
Base Construction: Plywood legs section connected with solid oak top parts which are glued and fixed with embedded metal brackets.
Base Finish: Moulded plywood base. Inner plywood in beech, top veneer in water-based (eco-friendly) lacquered oak, black lacquered oak or soaped oak.
Among HAY's ongoing initiatives to reduce their ecological footprint, is the introduction of water-based lacquer on a selection of their wooden furniture. HAY are therefore pleased to announce that as of 15 January 2021, they will be upgrading their current PU lacquer with a more eco-friendly water-based lacquer and FSC wood. The differences in physical properties are negligible, with the new water-based lacquer matching the minimum strength of the current lacquer and with indistinguishable visible differences. However, the environmental benefits are clear – the new lacquer does not contain any harmful substances and is used on FSC wood sourced from sustainable forests. The lacquer fulfils all the EU Ecolabel requirements.

Upholstery is grouped by number 1-6; the higher the number the greater the cost. Please get in touch for a bespoke quote if you would like a fabric listed here but not available to buy online.

Hee Welling
Hee Welling is a Danish furniture designer who founded his own studio in Copenhagen in 2003. Welling has received a number of design awards, including the Bo Bedre Award (Denmark), Good Design Award (USA) and has been nominated as the Danish designer of the year in both 2013 and 2014.
Welling is the son of a cabinetmaker, and his fascination with production techniques, materials and machinery began as a child. He went on to study at The University of Art and Design in Helsinki, and received his master’s degree in furniture design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (where he also now tutors).
