Originally designed in 1958 by Danish furniture designers and architects Borge Mogensen and Esben Klint, the Conscious Chair 3162 is relaunched in a different material from the original piece for the first time by Mater. With Mater's leading approach to sustainability and circular production using waste, the Conscious Chair seat and backrest are made with discarded coffee beans from Danish coffee producer BKI Kaffee, industrial plastic waste from German plumbing fixtures manufacturer Grohe, and wood fibres from furniture production. With new groundbreaking technology, it is designed for easy disassembly at the end of life, meaning that the design allows each component in its purest form to be up-cycled into new production circles.
Constructed from a solid wood base with recycled materials for the seat and back using Mater's innovative technology. The Conscious Chair 3162 ensures durability and stability in use. Designed with optimal functionality in mind, a curved back and seat allow freedom of movement and maximum comfort while seated. With its unique surface, the chair will suit multiple uses from dining to working.
