Designed by Danish cabinetmaker Poul Kjærholm in 1956, the PK111 is an elegant room divider originally conceived as a modular design. Now reintroduced as a sculptural six-panel screen, its form reflects Kjærholm’s refined approach to proportion, material and composition. Designed for Kjærholm’s own home, the 140 cm high screen creates a more private atmosphere when seated, while still maintaining an open and airy presence.
Crafted from pressure-moulded veneer with 5 inner layers of beech veneer and 2 outer layers of Douglas Fir veneer, the PK111 highlights the precision of laminated wood construction and the natural character of the wood grain. Its free-standing structure can be arranged to shape or divide a space, allowing for a flexible layout in both residential and public interiors.
The angular folded form creates clean lines and shifting shadows that change depending on the viewing angle and surrounding light. Additional panels can be interlocked seamlessly, allowing the divider to be extended to suit a range of spaces.
