Designed by Denmark’s renowned architect Arne Jacobsen, the Swan Lounge Chair was originally created in 1958 for the lobby and lounges of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. In the 1950s, its free sculptural form came to symbolise a new era. It is an iconic piece of mid-century modern design, recognised for its smooth, curvaceous silhouette. Inspired by the graceful form of a swan, the seat’s organic curves create a sculptural expression that maintains visual harmony from every angle.
Constructed from polyurethane foam reinforced with glass fibre, the shell provides a robust and supportive structure. The foam is moulded directly onto the hard PUR shell before being upholstered, creating a seamless finish that enhances durability and comfort. A sturdy steel seat carrier further reinforces the construction, ensuring long-term stability. The chair’s enveloping curves offer a relaxed seating experience that is suitable for both private and public environments.
Available in a range of high-quality upholstery options, the Swan Lounge Chair complements both contemporary and classic interior styles.
