The Aukko Dining Table is inspired by Can Lis, the Mallorca residence of Danish architect Jørn Utzon, and reflects how he merged architecture with the surrounding landscape. The table’s circular form and honest construction are influenced by Utzon’s approach, where light, texture and natural elements come together to create a calm and balanced atmosphere.
The tabletop is crafted from oiled solid Douglas fir, while the base consists of oiled Douglas fir veneer on an MDF core. Measuring 140 cm in diameter, the table comfortably seats 6 people. Designed with a flat-pack construction, it supports low-impact shipping and simple assembly. The base features precisely arranged planks, forming a sculptural foundation. A small brass-detailed hook adds a delicate touch to the clean silhouette.
Each Douglas fir plank is carefully selected and matched to create a continuous flow of colour and grain, showcasing the wood’s raw beauty. The way the planks are cut gives the table its elegant striped pattern. This thoughtful detail creates a calm, cohesive expression that reflects the craftsmanship behind the design. Over time, the wood's warm reddish-pink tones fade into a subtle grey, giving each piece a timeless patina.
